Finger Painting Numbers

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

An educational and easy activity that will introduce your toddlers to numbers while doing what they already love, finger painting!

What you’ll need:

  • Kraft paper

  • Empty egg carton

  • Washable paints

  • Number stencils

2 Easy Step:

  • Place your washable finger paints in a paint palette or empty egg carton

  • Trace out the different numbers on kraft paper.

Tell your children to paint the shape of each number using their fingers.

Tips, advice, and educational benefits:

  • Finger painting is a great way to get your toddler or preschooler more familiar with writing numbers in a fun and creative manner!

  • Teach by example! Show your toddler or preschooler how to dip their finger into the paint and use it to color along each number.

  • This is a great activity that works our your little ones cognitive skills and will help them recognize how to form numbers.

  • Pick your battles! Toddlers can sometimes be very adamant about where and how they want to finger paint. If you tell them how to write the numbers properly and they decide to do the complete opposite, it’s fine! Let them enjoy themselves, and try the numbers again later.
