A great science experiment to do at home with your little ones. Your children will be in awe watching the balloon inflate without blowing into it!
What you’ll need:
Balloon
Plastic bottle
Vinegar
Baking soda
Funnel
3 Easy Steps:
Fill your bottle approximately 1/3 way with vinegar
Using the funnel, fill the balloon (not inflated!) with about 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda
Gently place the opening of the balloon on to the opening of the bottle without letting any baking soda get in the bottle
Lift the balloon, letting all the baking soda fall in at once and watch how the balloon inflates from the chemical reaction
Teach your little ones about the chemistry behind this fun experiment. The base of the baking soda and the acid of the vinegar combine to form a gas (carbon dioxide). This gas causes the balloon to expand and inflate!
